Welcome to Horspower Car Rental. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of our website.

Rental policies overview

• The following rules and restrictions are provided by the car rental company.
• The driver must present a valid drivers license and credit card in their name upon pick-up. The credit card is required as a deposit when renting any vehicle. The deposit amount is held by the car rental company. Please ensure sufficient funds are available on the card.
• International rentals may have different driver license requirements. Please check what exact documentation is required by the car rental company. For example, an international driving licence is required if the driving licence is non-roman alphabet, and if picking up the vehicle in an EU country, an international driving license may be required for those whose driving licence is not issued in the EU.
• Additional charges or restrictions may apply for drivers under 25.
• Charges for refueling, additional drivers, etc. are not included in the total price.
• Special equipment, such as child seats and GPS, can be purchased upon pick-up (if available).
• Geographical restrictions may apply, even for rental contracts that feature unlimited mileage. Some car rental companies do not allow you to take their vehicles across certain domestic or international borders, or may apply an additional charge to do so.
• Your rental may have mandatory, local insurance requirements that result in additional charges at the time of hiring.
• This rental is non-refundable. No changes or cancellation will be allowed for this reservation.
• Get 100% refund on insurance if it is canceled before pick-up time. This will be canceled automatically with your car cancellation.
• No changes, cancellations or refunds are allowed for this rental.
• The total price includes all mandatory taxes and fees.
• Unless and otherwise specified, rates are quoted in US dollars.

When you arrive: Nu Car Rentals - Miami is served by our affiliate Horspower Car Rental, situated at 3947 NW 26th St, Miami, FL 33142. When you land at the Miami International Airport (MIA): follow the signs to the car rental center. Hop on the Miami Mover (located on the 3rd level between Dolphin and Flamingo garages). Arriving at the car rental center, proceed to the off airport car shuttles and wait for the Nu shuttle at stations 4 or 5. Call our local office +1 888 656 7383 for pick up and local inquiries. Important local car rental terms: vehicles will be held for up to 2 hours past your reservation arrival time and within operational hours. - Florida residents receive 50 free miles daily, for more details of additional cost please inquire locally. - All vehicles are equipped with toll devices that cannot be removed, please inquire locally. Drop off charges: Vehicles must be returned to our Rental location or the customer will be responsible for all costs incurred to return the vehicle to our offices.

Other: We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Debit, prepaid cards or cash are not accepted for rental. Renters must present a valid credit card listed above in their own name with sufficient funds to cover the estimated rental plus the security deposit even if the rental was fully prepaid. The security deposit will be taken on all rentals for up to 10 business days after the vehicle is returned on time with no damage. The deposit amount depends on the terms of the rental, excess amount and Toll Pass purchase, 350USD up to 2500USD without Toll Pass and 250USD up to 1000USD with Toll pass. If you choose to use your own coverage and accept the Toll Pass the deposit is 1000USD. Florida Residents and Renters who decline our coverage and the Toll Pass have a deposit of 2500USD. NU Car Rentals provides a car rental affiliate reservation system and acts as an agent for the convenience of you, the customer and the locally owned and operated car rental firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location. Depending on the product you booked, some reservations are nonrefundable, and some may incur fees. Additional charges will be collected at rental in local currency A rental day consists of a 24 hour period. Changes to the reservation may result in a change of rate or an additional fee. There are no refunds for early returns. If After hours returns are permitted the renter will be billed to the start of the next business day and is responsible for the rental vehicle until inspected by a company representative. Please inquire at the rental counter for further details. Note there is no shuttle service available outside hours of operation. Reservations for multiple vehicles must be made in different names or may not be honored. Smoking in vehicles or returning the vehicle where special cleaning may incur an additional fee per local policy. Makes and models are examples only and are not guaranteed. Local taxes and fees are controlled by local authorities and Suppliers and may be subject to change.

Insurance

Security Deposit: A security deposit of 1000.00 USD with the exception of Florida Residents will be held at the start of the rental. A security deposit of 2000.00 USD will be held for all Florida Residents at the start of the rental. Florida Residents must provide proof of Insurance and bring declaration page. Excess: The renter is responsible for all damage or loss to the rental vehicle. This responsibility may be reduced or eliminated. For additional information please inquire at our rental counter. If you purchase our Inclusive Rate package please note our rate includes Collision Damage Waiver, Theft protection and mandatory liability coverage with an excess of 2500.00USD as well as taxes and fees. Not included in your rate is fuel, Underage or Additional driver fees, Special Equipment such as baby seats, GPS and the Toll Pass as well as Supplemental Liability or any other options. You will remain responsible for the excess. Renters relying on credit card or third-party website purchase coverage, are financially responsible for all vehicle damage or loss, all repairs and or vehicle replacement prior to departure. Renter may seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. Be advised, the purchase of additional vehicle coverage at the time of rental is optional and final. Refunds cannot be issued.

Liability insurance is required when driving in Florida. Please bring proof of liability insurance valid in Florida-Declarations page with name of company and the policy number valid for at least 3 months at the time of rental or you will be required to purchase liability insurance. Your insurance must be issued by one of the following U.S. or Canadian companies only - State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, USAA and Liberty Mutual for U.S. and Aviva Canada, State Farm Mutual and Wawanesa Mutual of Canada in Canada with at least 500 thousand USD liability/event. Florida residents must use their own personal Third Party Liability -TPL- with a minimum coverage of 1 million USD. SCL - Supplemental Liability Insurance protects you against claims for injury or damage you cause to a 3rd party and their property. SCL is 24.95USD plus tax per day for all vehicle sizes. CDW/LDW-Collision Damage Waiver is required unless renter brings proof of valid Insurance -Declarations page- from an insurance company listed above. Horspower Car Rental will then waive the CDW charge, leaving the renter responsible for all damages to the rental vehicle. The damage waiver includes Liability and Theft Protection, TP and TPL for all car sizes but excludes tire and windshield protection. Glass and Tire Protection is available for 5.95USD per day. CDW/LDW is 19.99USD with excess of 2500.00USD. 24.99USD/day-excess 1500.00USD. 29.99USD/day-excess 500.00USD. 34.99USD/day-excess zero All options are taxable. The security deposit is-2500USD to 350USD depending on Excess. You MUST provide a Police Report in order for Insurance to cover any accident and notify us immediately. Should you choose to rely on Credit Card coverage or coverage purchased on a website you will be responsible to Horspower Car Rental for all damages or replacement of the vehicle prior to your departure. You can seek reimbursement from your provider upon return to your residence. This deposit is 1000USD and can be held up to 20 business days after the return of the vehicle with no damage.

Return refueling

Fuel is not included in the rate. All cars are provided with fuel and should be returned with the same amount of fuel as received in order to avoid a locally determined refueling charge of 7.00USD per missing gallon. We do offer prepaid fuel options for our customers convenience. Please ask our rental agent at time of rental. Credit is not issued for unused fuel. Fuel is not included in the rate. Special equipment

Safety seats for children through 1 year of age are available for 12.25USD per day, ages 2-4yrs are also 12.25USD per day and both are capped at 122.50USD per rental. Booster seats for 4-10 years are 9.25 per day with a cap of 92.50USD. Availability may be limited. GPS Navigation Systems are 10.75USD per day - max of 107.50USD. Prepaid Toll System is 13.95USD per day. All options are taxable. Availability may be limited. Request at the rental counter. Cancellation and no-show policy

• This rental is non-refundable. No changes or cancellation will be allowed for this reservation.

Driver's license

All Renters are required to have a Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record from their country of residence for at least 2 years as well as a valid major credit card in his or her own name. Temporary drivers licenses are not accepted. If their Drivers License is not in the Roman alphabet a valid Intl Drivers License is required and they must present their passport. Proof of Third Party Liability Insurance as well as Collision and Comprehensive coverage for our rental vehicle must be presented at time of rental or purchased at the rental counter. Additional drivers MUST meet the same requirements as the Renter Each additional driver will be charged a surcharge of 9.99USD per day-max 99.99USD. Spouses are charged 3.75USD per day. Drivers must be at least 18 years of age -Renters between the ages of 18 and 24 will be charged an underage surcharge of 15.25USD per day. All fees and surcharges are taxable.

Cross border restrictions and Cost

Our rental cars are not allowed outside of the State of Florida. Should you take our rental vehicle out of the state of Florida you may be charged up to 1000USD fee and .75USD for all miles. It is forbidden to take the vehicle on any kind of boat, ferry, train, lorry or airplane without written permission of Horspower Car Rental. Please note most Florida Tolls are electronic so you may not be able to pay credit or cash and it is difficult to avoid them. You may purchase a prepaid toll pass at 13.95USD per day at the rental counter. This fee applies for the duration of the rental. If you decline the Toll Pass an admin fee of 25USD will apply to each violation. Toll transponders may not be removed from our vehicle. Removal will result in a 450USD penalty. Please note you may not use your own transponder. Florida residents are limited to 50 free miles per day with a charge of .75USD for each additional mile.
